“After their first-round exit from the NFL Playoffs, the Philadelphia Eagles find themselves subjected to ridicule.”

It wasn’t bad enough the Philadelphia Eagles lost five of their last six regular season games. They had to go out and get run out of the NFL Playoffs, too.

The Eagles were considered the team on the worst downward spiral of every playoff competitor and they lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round, the team most considered the least likely to have any success in the postseason after essentially tripping into it.

But the Buccaneers didn’t trip over a playoff win when they dispatched Philadelphia by 23-point margin in a 32-9 win.If you thought that was cold though, nothing beats the very public troll job the Eagles were the subject of this week as winter weather forced school closures across the northeast.

“All Penn-Delco schools will be CLOSED tomorrow, Fri Jan 19th due to the winter storm,” Dr. George Steinhoff, superintendent of Penn-Delco School District tweeted Thursday evening. “Forecasted snow amounts are increasing and it is expected to be as cold as the Eagles offense, and as slippery as the Eagles defense has been of late. Stay safe, stay warm.”

To Dr. Steinhoff’s point, Philadelphia failed to convert any of its nine third-down attempts against Tampa Bay and was 0-for-11 on third and fourth-down tries.

The Eagles were only able to score one touchdown in the game and failed to convert a two-point conversion following it.Struggles by the Philadelphia offense have been widely blamed for much of the team’s struggles in the back half of the year but the defense was equally to blame in most cases.
