Barbora Krejcikova described Iga Swiatek as “super nice and humble girl.” Through her Instagram account, Krejcikova answered some fan questions and one fan wanted to know her opinion on Swiatek. “Super nice and humble girl,” Krejcikova answered.
Krejcikova was also asked to share her thoughts on men’s world No 1 Carlos Alcaraz. “I like @carlitosalcaraz but not because of his tennis (even though it’s unbelievable) but because of personality and behavior as a 19 year-old teenager,” Krejcikova said.
Krejcikova knows how to play Swiatek
Last year, Swiatek was 7-of-7 in her finals before Krejcikova beat the Pole in the Ostrava final. In this year’s Dubai final, Krejcikova again pulled off an upset as she beat Swiatek 6-4 6-2.
After the Dubai final, Krejcikova was asked to reveal what was her recipe for success against Swiatek. “I love challenges. When there is somebody that is really tough, I just love to go out there and see where I am, if I can beat this player, if I cannot beat this player.
It just gives me extra, extra push. When you play with Iga, you have to suffer, otherwise you’re not going to win because she’s everywhere. She plays great shots. She likes to play long rallies. So you have to suffer. I don’t mind that,” Krejcikova said.
Prior to the Dubai final, Swiatek was on a run of eight consecutive wins. But then Krejcikova made sure Swiatek’s run would end there. “It definitely means a lot. It was a great week for me, I was improving every single game & today I showed my best.
I have so much respect for Iga, to me she is a big inspiration, she motivates me every day. It was a great final & I’m happy with the result,” Krejcikova said of Swiatek after the final. The head-to-head between Krejcikova and Swiatek stands at 2-2.
