It’s been only 20 games into the season and already, Caitlin Clark owns a franchise record for the Indiana Fever.

With her win over the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday, Clark recorded a statline of 15 points, 12 assists, and nine rebounds.

Thanks to those 12 assists, she’s now up to 138 on the year – which is a new franchise record for the most in a single season for a rookie.

Clark was the third highest scorer on the team in their 88-82 win over Phoenix – who boasts the likes of WNBA legends Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner.

She logged 39 minutes and came just one rebound short of becoming the first WNBA rookie to record a triple-double.

Yesterday, it was reported that Indiana Fever coach Christie Sides told Clark that she should shoot the ball more.

Well, she shot the ball more than anyone else on her team – but was inefficient, going 4-14 from the field and 2-10 from 3-point range.

Taurasi, who once warned that Clark would need to be ready for a tough transition into the league, praised the rookie for how she’s handled the new level of competition.

‘It’s amazing what Caitlin has been able to do in her short career so far. It’s just been nothing short or remarkable. The one thing that I really love about her, she loves the game.

‘You can tell she put the work in. Even throughout her short WNBA career, it’s been a lot of pressure, a lot of things thrown at her. She keeps showing up and keeps getting better every single game.

‘Her future is super bright. Being a veteran and being in the seat for a long, long time, it’s pretty cool to see that and going into the future.’

Indiana continues its west coast swing on Tuesday afternoon, when the Fever play the reigning champion Las Vegas Aces.
