The face of the NFL now has a specifically-designed product to shield his eyes.

The reigning Super Bowl MVP, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, had been endorsing Oakley since March of 2019, but on Thursday the company announced the

launch of the Patrick Mahomes II Signature Series.

Similar to how sneaker companies like Nike have custom-designed shoes for LeBron James or Kyrie Irving, Oakley’s Patrick Mahomes II Signature Series frame features a red color theme for the Chiefs (and also his college team, Texas Tech), an etched lens with II for Mahomes, whose father has the same first and last name, and a unique print that nods to his “Showtime” nickname.

It also has Oakley’s Prizm lens technology, which enhances color and contrast to see more detail.

A league MVP and then Super Bowl LIV MVP in his first two years as a starter, Mahomes is the logical athlete to endorse sunglasses not only because of his transcendent play, but also the way he sees the field.“He’s blessed with great vision,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said.

Mahomes has made the no-look pass, formerly only present in basketball, part of NFL highlight reels. He has completed a litany of how-did-he-do-that throws, including during Week 14 of the 2018 season when he stared at the right side of the Baltimore Ravens defense and then whipped a no-look, first-down reception to Demarcus Robinson on the left.

Because Mahomes is so adept at seeing his receivers anywhere the field — even in his periphery — Oakley views him as the perfect athlete to promote its eyewear.
