Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker has made history by becoming one of the few players in NFL history to win three Super Bowls.
Butker achieved this feat after the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. Butker also made history in the same game by setting two Super Bowl records.
The first record came when Butker made a 57-yard field goal, breaking the previous record for the longest field goal in Super Bowl history. The previous record was set earlier in the same game by San Francisco 49ers rookie kicker Jake Moody, whose 55-yard make in the second quarter opened the scoring and gave the team an early 3-0 lead.
Butker also tied Adam Vinatieri and Stephen Gostkowski for the most field goals in a Super Bowl career. However, he broke the record in the fourth quarter when he made a 28-yard kick that moved him past Gostkowski and Vinatieri for most career Super Bowl field goals.
Butker’s impressive performance in the Super Bowl continues his excellent form in the postseason. He has now made 32 out of 36 field goals attempted in the playoffs, with a 95.4% extra point conversion rate. Butker also holds the franchise record for most points and most career PATs in the postseason.
Butker’s three Super Bowl rings put him in elite company, and he will be remembered as one of the greatest kickers in NFL history. His impressive form in the postseason has been instrumental in the Chiefs’ success, and he will be looking to continue his excellent form in the coming seasons.
