Iga Swiatek secured her eighth title of 2022 on Monday after beating Donna Vekić in the San Diego Open final.
The world number one enjoyed an iconic celebration with her trophy and a surfboard, embracing the popularity of surfing in California.
She also received something a little more unexpected from one of her fans while she was giving her speech.
What happened after Swiatek’s win?
After the 21-year-old had accepted her trophy, a man in the crowd shouted something to her and those around her immediately burst into laughter. Posts on Twitter claim he yelled ‘Iga, will you marry me?’ in Polish, to which the tennis star gave a brilliant response.
She grimaced at first from the awkward question but then laughed and said: “I’m not going to repeat what Steffi Graf said, but you probably know what she said.”

Like Świątek, Graf was also proposed to during a tournament.
While the 22-time Grand Slam champion was competing in the 1996 Wimbledon Championships, a supporter in the crowd loudly asked if she would marry him just as she was about to serve.
A flustered Graf chuckled along with the crowd as she tried to find the appropriate response.
The German then delivered her iconic one-liner.
“How much money do you have?” she shouted back.
