Just in: William and Kate are ‘going through hell’ over cancer news

The Prince and Princess of Wales are ‘going through hell’ after Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis, a close friend to the couple revealed.

Amaia Arrieta, who designs clothes worn by Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis has said the family are struggling to come to terms with the news.

She told the Telegraph: ‘I’m heartbroken at the moment, I think they are going through hell.

‘I hope they will be back. It’s really personal.’

Kate revealed she was undergoing cancer treatment after weeks of speculation over her whereabouts.

In the message revealing the diagnosis last month, Kate said: ‘This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.

As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment.

‘But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK

The family missed the Easter Sunday service at St George’s Chapel, despite attending last year.

Prince William has returned to public duties following the news, opening a suicide prevention centre in Newcastle two weeks ago and
His father King Charles was unable to make time in his ‘busy schedule’ to see his son who landed in London after flying from California.

A spokesperson for Harry said: ‘It unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.

‘The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.’

It is the first visit Harry has made to the UK since his siser-in-law Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis.

But he is understood to have made contact with the Princess of Wales ‘privately’.
