Prince Harry’s old chums from his Eton and military days are reportedly steering clear of him due to their strong dislike for Meghan Markle, according to a royal expert.
The Duke of Sussex is said to be seeking a new UK base after being evicted from Frogmore Cottage by the King following the release of his tell-all memoir Spare.
Royal commentator Tom Quinn told the Mirror: “He misses his Old Etonian and army friends, many of whom have not visited as they don’t get on with Meghan.
“As time goes by, Harry misses some aspects of his old life in the UK. Inevitably, the honeymoon period where everything in the States is new and exciting is coming to an end and Harry is looking back at the past through rose-tinted spectacles.”
The Duke of Sussex quit the Royal Family back in 2020 with his wife, Meghan to relocate to the US to start a new life outside of the monarchy, the Express reports.
The former royal couple currently reside in Montecito, California with their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
In Spare, Harry confessed he had been sad to leave behind his former UK home as he wrote: “Once upon a time, this was going to be my forever home. Instead, it had proved to be just another brief stop.”
The Sussexes were gifted Frogmore Cottage by the late Queen Elizabeth II after their 2019 wedding and paid for an extensive renovation independently after initially using taxpayer’s money and then repaying it.
However, their time in the five-bedroom cottage was short lived and the couple are now homeless in the UK.
